PFMeet raffle to raise money for Second Chance Animal Rescue

At this years summer party (8th August at Staggering Brewery – get tickets here) we’re holding a raffle to raise money for the Portsmouth branch of the charity Second Chance Animal Rescue.

The charity has been established for over 30 years, and the Portsmouth branch is run by Janeen and a group of volunteers from over 25 years, who do it purely for the love of animals. Second Chance Portsmouth mostly specialises in the rehoming of cats. They don’t have a cattery to care for homeless cats, but instead rely on a network of volunteer foster homes around the city who care for the cats until they find their forever homes.

Second Chance are also supported heavily by Grove Vets in Portsmouth who treat a number of the animals that are brought to the charity for help. I myself have witnessed this first hand, having adopted two cats from them myself. The second was Zak who I was fostering at the time. He was diagnosed with a diaphragmatic hernia and I was told he would have to be put down. However Second Chance and Grove Vets stepped in, performing live saving surgery, eventually leading to me adopting him.

With the support of local businesses, friends of PFMeet and people who hold animals dear to their heart, we’ve managed to gather together an amazing list of raffle prizes, tickets for which will be on sale at the PFMeet Summer Party on 8th August.

Every little bit helps

The money raised will help go towards paying for outstanding vets bills, and supporting the network of fosterers for homeless cats. If anyone has anything they can donate in terms of food, cat litter, toys, etc please feel free to bring them along on the night!
