IPSE Support for Freelancers and Contractors

IPSE (short for the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self Employed) are a membership body who support freelancers, contractors and the self employed.
There are various ways in which IPSE can help and support you as a freelancer, and we’re going to cover just a few of them here:
Protection for you and your business
For around £13 a month, IPSE members can take advantage of the following benefits, which as a freelancer are extremely important:
- Free tax and legal helplines
- Specialists to defend you in a tax investigation at no cost
- Debt recovery
Compensation
On top of the above, IPSE Plus members (around £20 a month) receive business interruption support including:
- £5000 life assurance cover at no charge
- Up to £1000 if an agency breaks contract
- Up to £10000 compensation for failed payments
- Up to £2000 if you are ill/injured for 3 weeks or more
- Up to £500 per day compensation for tax compliance meetings
- Up to £500 per day compensation for jury service for up to two weeks

IPSE organise over 100 events a year throughout the UK, including National Freelancers Day. Events include:
- Tax (paperwork, compliance , remuneration, IR35 etc)
- Financial planning (pensions, mortgages, investments, banking)
- Social media (twitter, Linkedin)
- Personal skill development (CV & covering letter writing, interview/business pitch)
- Policy changes
