Want to give a talk at Portsmouth Freelancers Meet?
Every month at Portsmouth Freelancers Meet, we aim to host a short 10–15 minute talk before the networking begins. Talks are a great way to:
- Share your story, case study, or lessons learned
- Demo a tool, process, or creative project
- Spark discussion with the freelance community
We welcome first-time speakers as much as seasoned pros – no polished TED Talk required. The only thing we ask is that your talk is relevant, respectful, and useful (or entertaining!) for our mix of freelancers and creatives.
What we’re looking for
- Talks that freelancers, small business owners, and creatives can learn from
- Personal stories about freelancing life, challenges, or wins
- Practical tips on design, dev, photography, writing, marketing, wellbeing, or anything else you do
- Something thought-provoking that gets people talking after
What to expect
- You’ll have 10–15 minutes to present (slides are optional but welcome)
- A friendly, supportive audience – many of us have been in your shoes
- Space afterwards for questions and conversations over a drink
What you’ll gain by speaking
- Raise your profile — get your name and work in front of other freelancers and small businesses
- Practice public speaking in a safe, supportive environment
- Spark new opportunities — those who speak at events have found clients, collaborators, or friends through their talks
- Give back to the community by sharing your experience
Ready to apply?
Our only requirement is that you have attended at least 3 of our monthly meetups
Fill out the short form below with a bit about you and your talk idea. We’ll get back to you soon to confirm a date.
