A fresh new look for PFMeet

Last modified: September 2, 2025

Portsmouth Freelancers Meet has been running for over 15 years – bringing together freelancers, creatives and small business owners for relaxed networking every second Thursday of the month.
This year, we decided it was time for a refresh.

Why the rebrand?

After so many years, PFMeet had built a strong reputation and loyal community, but our visual identity and online presence hadn’t changed much since 2017. We wanted:

  • A fresh, modern look that reflects today’s creative community
  • A website that makes it easier to find info and register for events
  • Space to grow the format of the meetup, including adding talks and new ways to connect
  • Add an FAQ section to make it clearer for new people who want to attend to know what to expect

The new brand & website

We’re excited to finally share our new look with you!

  • Branding – created by Charlotte Simonsen, who captured the fun, friendly, creative feel of PFMeet while giving it a sharper, more professional edge.
  • Website – designed and built by Jo Loveridge (Starboard – Digital Studio). The new site is faster, easier to use on mobile, and puts everything you need in one place: event details, blog posts, and speaker opportunities.

What’s new at the meetups?

PFMeet has always been about community, creativity and conversation. That hasn’t changed. But we’ve added a new element:

  • Talks – Short 10–15 minute sessions led by members of the community, sharing tools, tips and real-life stories from freelancing. This means you’ll get even more value out of each meetup, plus the same relaxed chats over a pint.
  • Microtheme exploration – Each month we’ll have a microtheme, where you can get involved by contributing to our ideas wall (it’s basically post-its – nice to get back to basics and away from a screen!). This is something new we’re trying out so excited to see what you think

Upcoming event

Our next meetup is just around the corner:
📅 Thursday 11th September
📍 The Sir Loin of Beef, Southsea
🎤 Talk: Tools & tricks to make freelancing easier by Jo Loveridge & Charlotte Simonsen

It’s free to attend, and everyone is welcome, whether you’re a designer, developer, filmmaker, writer, or simply curious about freelancing.

Let us know what you think!

We can’t wait to hear what you think of the new brand, and join us for the next chapter of PFMeet. Here’s to the next 15 years of creative conversations, collaborations and community.
